CSI Star Dealing with Bankruptcy
Gary Dourdan starred in the original CSI: Crime Scene
Investigation. TMZ reports Dourdan filed for bankruptcy
this past August. Allegedly, he has $1.73 million in debt, and $1.8 million in assets.
Dourdan was featured in eight seasons of CSI. According to
TMZ, Dourdan has said he only has a little over $300 to spend every month after
using his nearly $15,000 monthly income to pay bills. After preventing a bank from auctioning off his house, he filed under Chapter 11.
Choosing to file for bankruptcy is a big decision. Depending
on what kind of debt you have, and how much, bankruptcy may or may not be a good way
to resolve your financial burdens. Bankruptcy is often considered a last
resort, only after you have exhausted all other options. Bankruptcy can be
detrimental to your credit rating, depending on what it was before you filed
for bankruptcy.
If you think bankruptcy may be right for you, please speak
to an experienced lawyer about next steps. You are not required to use a
lawyer, but it is strongly encouraged by the courts. A bankruptcy lawyer can be
the person looking out for your best interest throughout the process.
